College: Oregon State University (OSU) is located in Corvallis, which is in Oregon's Willamette Valley. The public land-grant school was formed in 1868 as Corvallis College. In 1890 it become Oregon Agricultural College and finally was OSU in 1961. Over 26,000 students attend this school. It is well known for it's veterinarian, oceanography, and forestry programs. The Beavers have great baseball, football, and basketball programs in the Pac-12 conference. Mr. Bogert graduated from Oregon State!Book: “Bat 6” by Virginia Wolff (Call number: F-WOL). Bat 6 is set in the Willamette Valley where 6th grade girls from two schools play an annual softball game. After World War II, the girls must learn how to work together as one has recently come to the community from an internment camp and another had lost her father at Pearl Harbor. The author was born and raised...and still lives in Oregon.
