Grade 2 & 3
"Crash! Bash! Smash!" This week’s Washington Children’s Choice Picture Book was “The Monsters' Monster” by Patrick McDonnell. 3 small monsters decide to create their own super monster but their plans go wrong. Their big, bad monster is polite. Students were amazed at how the word monster was used both as a adjective and a noun. It's even possessive in the title!
Kindergarten (LeCompte & Morehouse)
The Tuesday kindergarten classes heard "Zorro Get's an Outfit" by Carter Goodrich. This is a title on the Washington Children’s Choice Picture Book Award nominee list. Zorro is embarrassed about his new outfit until he meets another dog with an outfit. We also looked at picture clues to figure out which character is which!
1st Grade & Mrs. Cook’s Kindergarten:
We read “Kel Gilligan’s Dare Devil Stunt Show” by Michael Buckley. See last week’s post for more information and web links!

5th Grade
Continued working on determining fact and opinion. Students are being asked not only to decide whether a statement is a fact or an opinion, but also what word makes it an opinion and what source could be used to prove a fact is true.
6th Grade
We reviewed finding information in an index. We also learned about Kate McMullan's series Myth-O-Mania which student can read in advance of their study of ancient Greece.
