There will be NO Eaglets next week as there is a half day next Thursday (3/20). We are looking to see everyone March 27. Our reader will be first grade teacher, Mrs. Goodsky!
Kindergarten - Grade 2: We have been finishing up the Washington Children's Choice Award Books and will be voting in the coming weeks. If classes were finished, we read some new books and looked at character and making connections.
Grade 3: Working on our "Best Book I Ever Read" posters. The poster which highlight a favorite book will be posted during Children's Book Week in May. 20 posters from Sherwood will be entered into the poster contest sponsored by the Edmonds Art Commission and the Friends of the Edmonds Library.
Grades 4-5: Reviewing finding bibliographic information in books. Students used non-fiction books and entered the information in an online form to get practice completing tasks online.
Grade 6: Worked on finding information on a ferry schedule. Students worked with partners to learn how to read a Washington State Ferries schedule. Things we focused on included: effective dates, routes, maps, color coding, symbols, and text. We will continue to look at how to read other types of schedules in the coming weeks.Professional: Mr. Sonnen attended the Teacher-Librarian Summit (part of the Northwest Council of Computer Educators annual conference) at the Washington State Convention Center on Wednesday. He learned about infographics, helping students become digital citizens, using Library of Congress online resources, and many other technology topics! He was able to attend due to a grant from Lightspeed Technologies and the Edmonds SD Instructional Media Department. Thanks!
