College of the Week - Northeastern University

College: Northeastern University is a private, urban university located in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1898 as a night school for men, it now offers almost 100 undergraduate degrees.   About 20,000 students attend this school, but admission is highly competitive.   It is ranked 1st nationally on its offering of internships.  It's sports teams are called the Huskies and they have great hockey teams and crew.

 

Book: “Johnny Termain” by Esther Forbes (Call number: F-FOR).  This historical fiction novel was the 1943 winner of the Newbery Award.  The book follows 14-year-old Johnny as the American Revolution is about to start in Boston though the first battle of the war.
